The Long-tailed Tit (Aegithalos caudatus) is a tiny, fluffy songbird with an unmistakable appearance. Measuring only 13-15 cm, more than half of its length comes from its long, elegant tail. Its soft white, black, and pinkish plumage gives it a delicate, almost fairy-like look.
These social birds are often seen in small, chattering flocks, flitting between branches in search of insects and seeds. Unlike many other songbirds, they build intricate, domed nests made of moss and spider silk, camouflaged among the trees.
Despite their fragile look, Long-tailed Tits are resilient and adaptable. During winter, they huddle together at night to stay warm, forming tight-knit family groups. Their lively nature and charming appearance make them a delightful sight in woodlands and gardens.
