The European Robin (Erithacus rubecula) is one of the most beloved and recognizable songbirds, known for its bright orange-red breast and curious, friendly nature. Measuring around 14 cm, it is often seen flitting through gardens and forests, foraging for insects, worms, and berries.
Unlike many other birds, robins are bold and often approach humans, sometimes following gardeners as they turn the soil in search of food. They are also highly territorial, with males fiercely defending their space through song and displays. In winter, their melodious tunes add a touch of warmth to cold days.
Despite their friendly appearance, robins are surprisingly aggressive when it comes to territory. Males will chase away intruders and even engage in fierce fights if needed. Their singing is not just for attracting mates but also serves as a warning to rivals, ensuring their space remains theirs alone.
