In the heart of Oasi San Daniele, a protected natural park in San Zenone degli Ezzelini, I embarked on a quest to photograph its elusive wildlife. Among the park’s many inhabitants, the red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) stood out as my primary and favourite subject.
From one of the park’s photography hides, I settled in for a long wait. Hours passed in silence, broken only by the rustle of leaves and distant bird calls. Patience was key—nature moves on its own schedule.
As the golden light of late afternoon painted the forest, a flicker of movement caught my eye. A red squirrel emerged, cautious yet full of energy. The moment was fleeting, but every second felt like a reward for the long hours of stillness.
These images are more than just photographs—they are the result of patience, immersion, and respect for the wild. Through them, I hope to share the quiet beauty of Oasi San Daniele and inspire appreciation for the wonders hidden in nature.
